For the "Milch & Honig" Festival 2023, Astrid Rothaug created art films to the music of 'B:A:C:H - like waters', which were projected onto the old walls of the Kasematten Wiener Neustadt during the quartet's live performance.

 

Astrid Rothaug on her work: 'Just as in our time, our world, countless versions of life overlap, run parallel or merge into one another, this series of artistic animations also seeks to tell four stories that happen side by side and could hardly be more different. A man with an unfulfilled passion. A refugee. One to whom all doors are open. A textile worker. Four lives that go with the music like the flow of time and that follow a common rhythm despite their differences. As the music rises, so do the fine lines of this animated narrative. Sounds are taken up visually, as if the musical world were conjuring up the visual world in order to condense with it into an experience, a cosmos. The result is an overall composition of many unconventional yet interconnected layers. Like the lives of the four people, the juxtaposition of their realities in this sense is also noticeable in the diversity of different art forms. The work process was a constant work to music. This makes it all the more clear how deeply the musical and the visual are intertwined here. A sound for every line, everything is connected.'
